School Day

Monday to Thursday: 9am - 3pm

Friday: 9am-2.15pm

(Breakfast Club: 8.45am-9am)

Uniform

From 2026, new students at ESSA will receive their uniform on their first day of school.

This includes:

• An ESSA branded polo shirt
• an ESSA branded jumper
• black trousers/skirt

All students must also wear black shoes.

During the summer, students are allowed to not wear their jumper however the rest of the uniform remains. 

Students cannot wear the following as substitute for school uniform:

• Leggings
• Joggers
• Trainers
• Anything branded outside of ESSA branding

Second hand uniform or spare uniform is kept at school. If a student loses their uniform, we may be able to offer them replacements.

Transport

Students living in Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, Lewes and Hailsham will be transported via our school minibuses, all key stage 3 students who live more than 3 miles away will be provided with travel. Students living in Eastbourne/Hastings & Rother will be provided with bus/train passes as appropriate.

PPE

Students undertaking specific vocational areas (Hairdressing, Automotive, Construction) will be expected to wear appropriate PPE e.g tunics, hard hat, steel-toe capped boots. These will be provided by the school; students cannot access practical sessions if they do not wear appropriate PPE
